Holidays during the Corona pandemic

The travel season would normally be well underway, however, this year tourists are understandably nervous. Is it really safe to go on holiday at the moment? Would it be best to cancel travel plans? How hotels can strengthen confidence.

Travel warnings to many European countries have been lifted

Many EU countries have lifted their travel warnings, which has delighted many tourists. However, a slight feeling of uncertainty will undoubtedly travel with them: how safe is the situation?

Our top tip for hotels and restaurants is to strengthen their guests' confidence with visible hygiene measures. This is how the travel industry can demonstrate that the health and well-being of their guests matters most.

We advise you to place dispensers for hand sanitiser at critical places, for instance:

  • In washrooms, especially at the exit
  • In waiting areas
  • In the restaurant
  • In the guest rooms

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) 80 percent of all diseases are transmitted from person to person by the hands. Hotel and restaurant operators who offer hand sanitiser in a large range of places therefore minimise the risk of transmitting pathogens.

Surface hygiene is also important

A new study in the magazine The Lancet also shows that Coronaviruses can remain viable on different surfaces for up to seven days. This is why surface cleanliness should also play an important role in hotels and restaurants, especially in areas where many people meet.

Did you know?

  • Contaminated hands can transmit viruses to up to seven surfaces where they can be picked up by others. [1]
  • Up to 14 people can be contaminated by touching the same object.[2]

How surfaces should be sanitised

We have good news though: tests with various solutions for surface sanitising have shown that ethanol-based products are most effective against 99.9 percent of harmful viruses - including SARS-CoV-2. If these agents are applied in an appropriate concentration, the number of infectious germs can be significantly reduced within a minute. Cleaning surfaces in full view of customers is a good way to increase the confidence levels of hotel guests or restaurant visitors that your premises are as safe as possible.

Another tip to help make sure that your guests feel safe when they are on the go - by providing them with a small bottle of an ethanol-based and moisturising hand sanitiser that they can use on the beach or on day trips. It fits in every trouser pocket or handbag and is perfect for hand sanitising in every situation. This way, holiday fun will not to be negatively influenced by latent fears and worries. Banish the feeling of insecurity to help your guests enjoy the highlight of their year.
