GOJO Industries- Europe, manufacturer of PURELL® hand sanitiser aims to protect vulnerable groups, notably children. Recently, the company distributed 7,400 bottles of its highly effective hand sanitizing gel to seven high schools in the Romanian city of Ploiesti to help protect pupils over winter.
Children are one of the most vulnerable groups
As any parent knows, schools can be a breeding ground for illnesses, with children passing coughs, colds and more between them. But good hand hygiene is surprisingly effective against the transmission of harmful germs. That's why GOJO Industries wants to help reduce outbreaks in schools with a donation of 7,400 bottles of its hand sanitiser.
PURELL Advanced Hygienic Hand Rub is science-tested and kills 99.9 percent of the most harmful germs - including Coronavirus[1]. In addition, the hand sanitiser contains skin-caring substances that prevent the hands from drying out and leave a pleasant feeling on the skin. It is safe for use at any age - though of course young children should always be supervised by an adult. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends the use of hand sanitisers whenever hands cannot be washed with soap and water.
Low-quality hand disinfectants are a health risk
"Wearing masks, washing fingers and palms regularly with soap and water or disinfecting hands with a sanitiser that contains at least 70 per cent alcohol are important measures to control the Coronavirus pandemic," says Cătălin Zlatco Iancovici, Sales Manager Eastern Europe, who spearheaded the donation. "Unfortunately, many dubious and inferior hand sanitising products were put on the market last year, giving users a false sense of security. These products have done more harm than good."
Some products didn’t deliver the effectiveness expected due to low alcohol concentrations. Others irritated skin, left causing hands to feel tight and dry left sticky residues or smelled nasty. "Hand sanitisers should be skin-friendly, they should protect health and not become a hazard for users, especially not for children," says Cătălin Zlatco Iancovici.
GOJO Industries takes provides a safer option
Iancovici continues: "We want to put an end to the risks posed by uncertified sanitisers. With our scientifically tested products, we offer optimal solutions and put a lot of effort in educating our users on reliable hand hygiene routines. And where was it better to start with than at schools? Pupils are very sensitive to our messages because they are the ones who are currently most affected by the pandemic. This is why we chose to donate our products to schools in Ploiesti."
Even though the donation was a complete success and was enthusiastically welcomed by both the pupils and the teachers, Iancovici regrets one thing. That he could not supply all the schools in Ploiesti with the donation. But he is sure that this campaign will not remain a unique one and the community will start focusing more on the educational system.
Stay healthy!
